Lemhouse Takes Down Incumbent
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008
Lemhouse said he was humbled and looks forward to “taking a hard look at the budget and the most efficient ways” to trim it in the current economic climate. He also said he wants to create a forest resiliency plan for the watershed and “repair relationships with our partners,” meaning Southern Oregon University, the Chamber of Commerce, Ashland Community Hospital and city staff.
Russ Silbiger echoed the theme, saying, “Hopefully we’ll get more done in less time, focus meetings on policy and less on arguing the fine points of detail.”
“There are so many things we need to get done,” she said, citing a transportation plan, getting many items in the city budget cut or on low priority and creating blue ribbon commissions to make Ashland “secure and sustainable.”
She also said she wants to see the council broaden out from a tourist economy to more diverse business.
