Chomp on chicken hits a raw nerve

The man, named Phil, said he bought the roll after going through the restaurant%26#39;s drive-through service just after midday yesterday.
The restaurant had been extremely busy and he was asked to wait for the deli choice chicken roll in the drive-through waiting area.
His daughters had already been given their order and, after a short wait, the family took their food home to eat, he said.
It was only after his wife took a bite of the roll and commented on the strange texture of the meat, that they thought to look at the condition of the chicken.
It was only partly cooked.
One side of the meat had been cooked but the other side was clearly still raw, he said.
He contacted the McDonald%26#39;s restaurant and left a message on the answerphone, and also contacted the chain%26#39;s head office. As of last night, no one had returned his calls.
He did not want a replacement roll, he just wanted the restaurant to review its cooking practices and make sure something like this did not happen again, he said.
%26quot;How many other people got served a raw piece of chicken?%26quot; he said.
People should %26quot;check their burgers%26quot; , he said.
Yesterday%26#39;s incident comes just days after the restaurant was visited by an environmental health officer following allegations of unhygienic practices at the restaurant.
%26quot;Nothing of serious consequence%26quot; was found after the inspection and, at the time, McDonald%26#39;s New Zealand spokeswoman Kate Porter said food safety and quality was paramount to its business.
A McDonald%26#39;s spokesman was unavailable for comment yesterday.
