Tainted ice cream recalled
The two litre, Tip Top Ice Cream Cake, is filled with banana, strawberry and bubble gum flavours.
Cakes with the date code Best Before 19/12/09 could potentially contain minute pieces of metal, Tip Top said.
Tip Top managing director Alastair de Raadt said a routine maintenance check on one of the production lines had identified abnormal wear on a metal component on one of its ice cream churns.
He said while no evidence of metal contamination had been found they were recalling the entire batch.
Food recall notices had been placed in New Zealand%26#39;s major daily newspapers and health authorities had been informed.
