House
The medical crisis in this episode is sparked by the real story
of Jerri Nielsen, a doctor who, while working at the South Pole,
discovered a lump in her breast that she had to biopsy herself -
and then treat. Here her place is taken by Cate Milton (an engaging
cameo from Mira Sorvino) and the simple diagnosis of breast cancer
is naturally replaced by something much more complex. This is
presumably so House (Hugh Laurie) has something to do on the
necessary satellite link-ups, apart from admiring her brain.
It’s certainly one of the more formulaic shows around, but the
writing and performances still make it engaging viewing.
