Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

After many years waiting for it and with a hesitant Steven Spielberg finally getting embarked as director of the project, the action cinema lovers had in front of their eyes the new Indiana Jones film. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was a little masterpiece in the genre, and according to Harrison Ford, he was waiting for the right script to come back to incarnate to the intrepid professor and archeologist. Funnily, we could say that it is precisely the script the weakest part of the film. The introductory sequence in the military base already tells that this is going to be the weakest Indiana Jones movie so far, and the continuation does not improve much the first impression.

The movie has some good moments and features, like the plausible appearance of Harrison Ford who makes fun of his own age, or the good choice of Shia Labeouf as Mutt. But Cate Blanchett′s role is certainly a parody of what a good “evil” character must look like in the saga and some action sequences like the attack of the giant ants, the atomic explosion or Mutt jumping like a monkey from tree to tree are too far ridiculous.

Secret material for Indiana Jones movie ’stolen’

Monday, December 10th, 2007

STEVEN Spielberg’s secret material for the new Indiana Jones movie has been stolen.

The director is furious after discovering %26quot;confidential%26quot; computers and photographs for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull were taken from his Los Angeles offices.

Spielberg’s spokesman Martin Levy said: %26quot;We want to warn the media that anything that is offered is stolen property. They are confidential and proprietary materials. We know it is out there.%26quot;

The movie mogul reported the robbery on September 24 after noticing the items were missing from his headquarters at Hollywood studio Universal Pictures, near the set of the latest Indiana Jones instalment.

A man has since been arrested and charged for the robbery, but many of the stolen goods are yet to be recovered and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department believe he did not operate alone.

Police posed as potential buyers after learning a man had been attempting to sell the valuables to a number of entertainment websites.

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said: %26quot;He is on what is known as parole hold. We believe there’s more people involved and don’t want to release the name until this plays out.%26quot;

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sees Harrison Ford return as globe-trotting adventurer Indy along with a star cast including Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, Australian actress Cate Blanchett, and British stars Ray Winstone, Jim Broadbent and John Hurt.

Last week, the movie was thrown into chaos after a film extra leaked details of the safely guarded plot.

The film is the fourth in the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise and is due to hit screens worldwide in May 2008.

Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett is %26quot;completely in love%26quot; with co-star Harrison Ford.

The 38-year-old actress always admired Harrison’s portrayal of the adventurous archaeologist, but has developed a full-blown crush on him since they started working together.

She told Empire magazine: %26quot;I was such a fan of the ‘Indiana Jones’ movies, I grew up on them. I was completely in love with Harrison Ford, and I still am! He’s a hottie, and has definitely stood the test of time.

%26quot;It’s so much fun doing this film, I’ve been having a ball. It’s like a family, everyone is so welcoming. It is a really happy set to be on.%26quot;

Last week, a film extra revealed Cate will play an evil interrogator who tortures Jones in a bid to discover the whereabouts of a priceless skull.

Meanwhile, movie bosses are said to be determined to ensure Harrison looks his best in the latest instalment of the adventure series.

The 65-year-old actor has reportedly been given a $10,000-a-week hair and make-up budget.

Producers are also said to be paying $5000-a-week for a personal trainer to whip the star into shape.

A source said: %26quot;Harrison is in great shape but he is getting a lot of help behind the scenes.

%26quot;He has no problem acting the part, but bosses were keen to make sure he looked as good as he did 26 years ago in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.%26quot;

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is released worldwide on May 22 next year.
